In addition, a leading authority on Industrial Ecology will share perspective on this concept and how it relates to beneficial use of byproducts.

Market development tools that have been used for many years to promote recycling of municipal solid waste will be explored for their applicability to industrial byproducts. Market development experts from the federal and state level will share their expertise and knowledge. This session will include a 30 minute facilitated discussion with attendees.

1:30 Public/Private Sector Breakouts
Public sector and private sector attendees will split up to separately discuss the following issues (and then come together in the closing session and share highlights of these discussion:

(1) Measurement of progress. How critical is this to each sector? What's the role of each sector? What kinds of programs have been successful?

(2) Regulatory opportunities. We'll focus the discussion on identifying the top 3 things each sector can do to reduce regulatory barriers and the top 3 things expected from the other sector.

(3) Market opportunities. What are the biggest needs for expanding markets? What are the best tools available in each sector?
 

2:30 Summary Session and Closing Remarks
A representative from the public and private sector breakout sessions will briefly present the highlights of these discussions. Group will work on identifying next steps on these issues.
